ke Chunklover2 : Sorry I’m writing a lot lol, it’s a habit since I just love this topic. The girl in the vid, Kaay Brazy, identifies as Afro-Latina. Both of her parents are black, one if Dominican & the other is Puerto Rican. Latam has many light-skinned blacks due to the African sl_ves sent there being more submissive to their masters than here in the U.S.. Your father served the country? I thank him for his heroism! I’m not black nor biracial, just white lol, I know I don’t have much place to speak on black matters, but I’m an avid lover of history & firmly support the Black American community.

ke Chunklover2 : You’re biracial like your everyday foundational African American. In this world, being mixed with black always equals a black person aka POC, it’s just the way it’s always been. One-drop rule. We’ve seen this before as we recall sl_very, the Jim Crow era & even now. Kamala Harris, our vice-president, had a very similar experience to Mariah’s growing up as well. She is black & Indian but is only labeled as “black”, RARELY as “biracial”. She ofc knows she’s also biracial but stated that she only identifies as a black woman. Kamala said she was raised as a black girl in a majority-black community & studied in a HBCU.

ke Chunklover2 : Sorry for the 4 day late reply lol, but yea technically all foundational African Americans are biracial since all have European roots since the colonial era. Mariah Carey has a white mom but has never been seen nor treated as a white woman nor anything other than black. I bought her book, it’s a memoir: “The Meaning of Mariah Carey”, I highly recommend! She sheds light on her upbringing. Growing up, she & her sister were called the “N-word” by whites in their neighborhood, which was majority-white. She stated that her mom was called “n.…r-lover”. Mariah said she struggled being half-white & half-black, but has always been well-received by the Black American community, like at least 90% of the time. Aside from “biracial” & “(Afro) Latina”, she has always identified primarily as black.
